Anaya-Sarai Jackson transferred to Carver STEAM Academy late in her junior year, but that didn’t stop her from making an unforgettable impact. Despite the challenges of adjusting to new coursework and requirements, Anaya worked closely with her counselor to not only stay on track but excel – earning a place among the top 10 students in her class. She also took advantage of dual enrollment and CTAE courses to broaden her academic experience.
Her favorite memories at Carver STEAM include pep rallies and basketball games – moments that brought the school together and gave everyone a chance to show their Carver pride.
If she could give advice to her freshman-year self, it would be to get involved, stay focused, and embrace discomfort as a path to growth: “Be comfortable with being uncomfortable—it’ll push you.”
After graduation, Anaya will embrace a new challenge and is attending the prestigious North Carolina A&T State University, where she plans to study social work or psychology. Looking back on her time at Carver, she says, “I’ll always remember Dr. Collins’ comforting words, Sekya’s big smile, Dr. Caldwell’s motherly touch, and last but not least, my Carver family.”
Congratulations, Anaya – your future is bright, and your Carver family is cheering you on every step of the way!
