Purpose Built Schools Atlanta (PBSA) students continue to achieve significant net gains in academic performance across our pre-K through 12th grade pipeline, according to the SY24-25 Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS). Some noteworthy gains include:
SLATER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Overall, the school improved by 11.4 percentage points in students performing at Developing and Above, and by 8.4 points in students reaching Proficient and Above.
Notably, Slater showed growth in every content area, with especially strong results in early literacy, math, and science:

PBSA began operating Slater Elementary School, Price Middle School and Carver STEAM Academy in 2016 through a partnership with Atlanta Public Schools with a mission to change the status quo through outstanding academics and enrichment.
PBSA is proving that a focused, purpose-driven approach to education works.
Despite the nationwide learning losses between 2019–2022, students at PBSA schools have consistently shown year-over-year improvement on the GMAS.
Growth Across All Subjects
When combined, GMAS results from all three schools demonstrate gains in math, English Language Arts (ELA), science, and overall performance. These results underscore the effectiveness of PBSA’s instructional model, which emphasizes coherence, clarity, and rigor.
“These results are more than just test scores – they’re proof that our model works,” said Dr. Nikkita Warfield, Chief Schools Officer, Purpose Built Schools Atlanta. “Year after year, our students are showing growth in every subject, and that doesn’t happen by chance. It’s a direct reflection of the consistency, clarity, and purpose we’ve built together as a school community. This progress is a testament to what’s possible when educators, students, and families are united around a shared vision for success.”
