Carver STEAM Academy, the high school of the Purpose Built Schools cluster in south Atlanta, serves 9th–12th grade students with a culture of support and excellence. Offering advanced courses, AP classes, project-based learning, a STEAM curriculum, and targeted interventions, Carver STEAM provides intellectually rigorous and engaging academics. Students can explore their passions through diverse enrichments, including dance, band, audio-visual technology, engineering, visual arts, and entrepreneurship. Advanced Pathways

Advanced Pathways is a program that identifies and places students in advanced courses as early as 5th grade. Students are challenged intellectually and engaged in extracurricular activities.

The Aviation Pathway at Carver STEAM Academy, in partnership with Tango Flight, Airbus, and Delta Airlines, teaches students skills required to work in the aviation industry while building a Vans RV-12is airplane.

Carver STEAM’s robust college and career readiness program prepares scholars for life after high school. In addition to dedicated counselors who assist students with their post-secondary planning and applications.

Dual Enrollment

Carver STEAM Academy students have the opportunity to gain college credits during their high school years. Students can enroll in duel enrollment courses through partnerships with Atlanta Technical College and Georgia State University.

Is Carver STEAM Academy a charter school?

Carver STEAM Academy is a traditional neighborhood school, not a charter school. We enroll each and every student who lives in our attendance zone. The enrollment process for Carver STEAM Academy is exactly the same as that of all other APS schools.

What is Carver STEAM Academy’s attendance zone?

All students living in the Carver cluster are eligible to enroll at Carver STEAM Academy.

How is Carver STEAM Academy connected to Purpose Built Schools Atlanta and Atlanta Public Schools?

Carver STEAM Academy is part of Purpose Built Schools Atlanta (PBSA), which is a cluster of neighborhood schools from PreK-12th grade. Atlanta Public Schools (APS) has contracted Purpose Built Schools to help run partnership schools in south Atlanta and help put their students on a path to success. All PBSA partnership schools are zoned neighborhood schools.

What are the benefits of being a Purpose Built Schools/APS partnership school?

As a partnership school, Carver STEAM Academy has all the authority, independence, and flexibility of a charter school, but remains a traditional neighborhood school with a defined attendance zone like every other APS school. By combining the best of traditional public schools with the best of charter schools, Carver STEAM Academy offers a proven program designed to put all students on a trajectory for success through college and in their careers.

What makes Carver STEAM Academy different from other high schools?

Carver STEAM Academy is focused on whole child development. We believe students thrive when given opportunities to explore unique programs, learn new skills and discover their own potential.
