Quality Academic Programs & Innovative Enrichment Opportunities

Carver STEAM Academy is a traditional neighborhood school, not a charter school. We enroll each and every student who lives in our attendance zone. The enrollment process for Carver STEAM Academy is exactly the same as that of all other APS schools.

All students living in the Carver cluster are eligible to enroll at Carver STEAM Academy.

Carver STEAM Academy is part of Purpose Built Schools Atlanta (PBSA), which is a cluster of neighborhood schools from PreK-12th grade. Atlanta Public Schools (APS) has contracted Purpose Built Schools to help run partnership schools in south Atlanta and help put their students on a path to success. All PBSA partnership schools are zoned neighborhood schools.

As a partnership school, Carver STEAM Academy has all the authority, independence, and flexibility of a charter school, but remains a traditional neighborhood school with a defined attendance zone like every other APS school. By combining the best of traditional public schools with the best of charter schools, Carver STEAM Academy offers a proven program designed to put all students on a trajectory for success through college and in their careers.

Carver STEAM Academy is focused on whole child development. We believe students thrive when given opportunities to explore unique programs, learn new skills and discover their own potential. We offer band, dance, robotics, visual arts, audio/visual technology and sports, as well as mentorship and internship programs and experiencing field trips.

Carver STEAM’s coursework is intellectually rigorous and engaging for all of our students, offering project-based learning, AP classes, a STEAM curriculum, small group instruction, Saturday school, and targeted interventions.

Our extended school day and programs help students discover their talents and passions by participating in enrichments like band, dance, robotics, art and sports, as well as mentorship and internship programs and experiencing field trips.

We offer a robust college and career readiness program designed to address inequities in employment and college acceptance and graduation rates, all of which are tied to social mobility. We also provide enrichment programs designed to narrow the opportunity gap, thus giving students the same exposure and experiences for career advancement and income earning potential. With dedicated counselors who assist students with their post-secondary planning and applications, students graduate empowered to achieve their goals and thrive.

Through school-based services and programs, we help students overcome both academic and nonacademic barriers to success. We also partner with organizations to support students and families with holistic wraparound services.

All PBSA schools offer Advanced Pathways, a program that identifies and places students in advanced courses as early as 5th grade. Carver STEAM Academy offers advanced students a variety of honors and AP courses, including:

Carver STEAM Academy offers a Computer Science Pathway, Entrepreneurship Pathway, Engineering Pathway, Audio & Video Technology & Film Pathway and an Aviation Pathway. CTAE courses equip students with the academic, technical, and professional skills and credentials they need for competitive STEM jobs.

Carver STEAM Academy students have the opportunity to gain college credits during their high school years. Students can enroll in duel enrollment courses through partnerships with Atlanta Technical College and Georgia State University.
