Malik Parris has made a lasting impression as a student leader, multi-instrumentalist, writer, author, and mental health advocate during his four years at Carver STEAM Academy. A proud member of the Class of 2025, Malik leaves a legacy of creativity, compassion and quiet leadership that will inspire students for years to come.

Throughout his time at Carver STEAM, Malik served as President of the Student Government Association and as a Student Advisory Council Ambassador for the Atlanta Board of Education. His leadership journey wasn’t just about holding titles—it was about lifting others up, helping his peers find their voices, and modeling the kind of quiet strength that makes true change possible.

When asked what he’s most proud of, Malik points to the legacy of compassion and creativity he leaves behind. Whether it was through leadership, music, writing, or simply being there when someone needed support, Malik has always worked to make Carver STEAM a place where kindness and authenticity are valued.

One of Malik’s favorite memories from his high school journey was a trip to Jekyll Island, a poignant moment when everything aligned—laughter, nature and friendship. It’s a reminder he carries with him: the importance of slowing down and savoring life’s simple joys.

Malik’s self-awareness and wisdom shine through when he reflects on his journey:

“No matter how honest, hardworking, kind, or caring you are—there will always be forces that try to tear you down for it. The world doesn’t always reward goodness… but that doesn’t mean you have to change who you are.”

His message to his younger self—and to others walking a similar path—is one of resilience, hope, and staying true to yourself, even when the world challenges you.

“Don’t be afraid to embrace the way your mind works. The world may not always understand your goodness, but that doesn’t mean you have to change who you are.”

After graduation, Malik plans to take a gap year to gain real-world experience before attending Morehouse College. He’s ready to continue building his future, armed with the lessons he’s learned at Carver STEAM and the unshakable belief that true intelligence lies in knowing when—and how—to create your own path.
