Pathways with Purpose connected scholars with internships, camps and specialized learning experiences designed to provide hands-on learning, academic enrichment, professional mentorship and opportunities to build confidence and career-ready skills.
And this summer, scholars of all ages had opportunities to participate.
I Am Arts provided two different experiences. Juniors and seniors from Carver STEAM Academy participated in internships focused on creative training, cultural awareness, expression and community connection, while rising fifth through ninth graders from Slater and Price participated in I Am Arts camps. Through the arts, scholars had opportunities to create, perform and build confidence.
Discover it. Create it. Give it. Our PBSA scholars in the I Am Arts pathway spent the summer building confidence and creativity through the 🎭arts — and giving back to their community through performance.
Carver STEAM scholars also gained real-world experience through PBSA Stars, Slater and Price’s summer camp, and the PBSA AG pathway, working on the Urban Farm at Price. PBSA Stars interns focused on leadership, confidence and character development, while AG interns got hands-on with agriculture—learning about local food systems, growing food and contributing to healthier food access in their community.
Our PBSA Stars scholars didn’t just show up this summer — they showed out. Leadership, confidence, and character were front and center all summer long.
From seed to harvest, our PBSA scholars in the AG pathway spent the summer growing food, growing knowledge, and growing their 🌱community’s access to healthy eating.
Other experiences reached scholars across grade levels. Through Dream Builders, students were encouraged to turn their dreams into plans for their futures, while Odyssey Atlanta immersed scholars in cross-disciplinary, project-based learning that connected STEM, art, college readiness and real-world problem-solving.

This summer, our PBSA scholars expanded their ambitions through Odyssey Atlanta at The Westminster Schools From STEM and art to 🚀college readiness and real-world problem-solving, our scholars are proof of what happens when barriers to enrichment are removed.
For rising and graduating seniors at Carver STEAM, Project South offered another kind of real-world learning experience. Scholars explored the history of their own community through archives, art and land, learned about community organizing and even helped facilitate a Juneteenth celebration.

Together, these experiences reflected the larger purpose behind Pathways with Purpose: giving PBSA scholars opportunities to discover their strengths, explore careers and develop skills they could carry into high school, college, careers and their communities.
One of the most rewarding parts of Pathways with Purpose is watching our scholars discover something new about themselves,” said Javan Wyche, Manager of Community Engagement at Purpose Built Schools Atlanta. “Whether they’re exploring a career they’ve never considered, learning a new skill, or simply gaining confidence in what they’re capable of, these experiences help students start to see a future that feels real—and possible.”
From elementary students beginning to discover new interests to graduating seniors preparing for their next chapter, PBSA scholars spent the summer putting purpose into practice—and expanding their sense of what was possible.
